moments of synchronicity

Do you have moments of synchronicity? Mine are sometimes so strong, that I am stunned and left trying to make sense of it all.

For example, have you ever mentioned a person and then all of sudden they appear in some way?

Or you express a thought out loud and suddenly things start to line up in support of your thinking?

In my membership, for example, people ask how it’s possible that they keep seeing the hawk or the elephant or insert any of our chosen spirit animals when it wasn’t something they had really noticed before.

As I sat down to write this weekly email to you, the topic I started was derailed by a moment of synchronicity I had just last night, and so I wanted to share it with you.

I went out to dinner and I only vaguely heard the faint music in the background as I ate (the restaurant was loud, so it was hard to hear).

I randomly said, "Oh I think this song is by Ed Sheeran" - a person my dinner mate did not really know, and quite frankly, a person I don’t really listen to or follow.

I have no idea why I said it.

Later that night, I was watching a TV show, gasp! (I gasp because this sentence warrants its own email…I haven’t watched a good TV series since Lost and Downtown Abbey, but I just made a resolution to start watching more TV so I can keep up with modern times…)

So with that in mind, I turned on Modern Love, a series based on the New York Times column about love, my favorite topic.

About halfway through the episode, a guest actor appeared. I said in my head, "Oh that looks like Ed Sheeran, doesn't it?" I don’t even really know what he looks like exactly.

Fast forward 15 minutes and I’m watching the credits and…it’s Ed Sheeran!!

WHAT??

So what does it all mean? I have no idea.

I don’t usually blurt out the names of every song that plays when I’m out to dinner with a friend. And I don’t even really know how to turn on the TV remote (let alone figure out which remote it is).

But this? It must mean something. It’s beyond coincidence.

I decided that synchronicity is like a wink, wink, nod nod from the universe.

It’s comforting to me, like someone saying without saying, “I’ve got your back. You’re on the right path. Just keep moving forward.”

Why these moments come to me in the form of an elephant or a photo of the Eiffel Tower or Ed Sheeran is beyond me.

I understand that synchronicity about Ed Sheeran doesn't seem particularly deep or meaningful, I’ve experience bigger. But this one is top of mind and I wanted to remember it as it happens.

You should write yours down too!

What I do know for certain is that they are positive and worth searching for…and then sharing.

Share your synchronicity moments with me! When you have them, remember to wink and nod back at the universe.

And then keep moving forward in the direction you were meant to travel.

Trust that you’re on your way.

With fierce love,
Alison
